Question

Organizer and Premier Element not responding when importing GoPro video HEVC 240fps

Hi,

When I import a video HEVC recorded with a GoPro Hero 9 at 240fps the Organizer freezes and stops responding. There are no error messages, but the import stops when generating the thumbnail. The process uses lots of memory and disk access, then stops answering. I have to kill the SW. See image attached.

Similar behavior happens when I import the file directly in Premier Element. The file is imported (without thumbnail), but it is not possible to play it. After few seconds, the SW stops responding and I have to kill it.

Please notice that I have no problem importing GoPro videos H.264 at 120fps.

Have you installed the $.99 HEVC codec from the Microsoft store?    Could you share a short clip via dropbox or similar?   If so, I could try it on my Windows computer.   Other posts here have suggested that the combination of HEVC and high frame rates may not work well!

Hi,

Thank you for your quick answer.

No i have not tried to download the codec, I thought that it was a temporary solution for when older versions of Adobe Premier were released (~2019). I have also seen people having trouble and conflicts with different codec version.

See a short video causing problem in attachment.

I got your clip and will try it.

The codec for HEVC does not come with Premiere Elements.  It needs to be on the computer.   Apple computers have it.  Apparently Window computer may or may not.  If not, you have to buy the $.99 version on the Microsoft Windows store.  Try this reference:  https://helpx.adobe.com/africa/premiere-elements/using/hevc-decoding-on-windows.html
