Pan and Zoom -- what does the ruler mean?

(I'm using 2021, Version 19)

When I go to pan and zoom, there is a blue ruler above the timeline marked with increments.  It would really help me if those increments matched the seconds in my video because I could make a mental note that the subject turns left at 45 seconds; but the numbers don't match the actual seconds.  Do they mean anything?  How are they useful to me?

In the Pan & Zoom workspace, there are a number of features I'm not happy about. That blue line represents the pan from face to face.

Here's my tutorial explaining what's going on what you can do about it.

I've already seen your video.  But thank you very much.
Regarding the timeline, oh, that is very unfortunate.  That is virtually useless.
So, my videos track a moving animal not still picture of human faces.  Here's a link.  I think I did a brilliant job with pan and zoom.  But is there a better way to accomplish this, because this took the whole day.

I didn't see the panning and zooming in your link, Cindy. But the Pan & Zoom tool is a pretty primitive tool primarily for pannning and zooming over photos.

Regardless, you can pan and zoom with much more ease and control if you just manually keyframe. As I show you in one of my Basic Training tutorials.
