PE 2025 Windows 11 - inserting a text

I am really struggling with having to use Premiere Elements 2025. I was very familiar with 2012.

Today I wanted to insert a simple title slide. I did not want the text scrolling. I just wanted it to sit on a simple black background. No matter what I did i could not manage this.

can you please help?

Select the Text tool, click in the Program Monitor and start typing.

If you want to edit the text select the Selection Tool.
