Playback on Premiere Elements is Awful

The playback on my premiere elements is extremely bad to the point where the video is super choppy and it even freezes my laptop occasionally. I've already tried many of the solutions here from changing the audio to "no input" to putting playback quality on low. I need some help fixing this problem or premiere elements is unusable for me.

>have a link on how to go to bios

I think you need to go to the company that makes your motherboard (or a discussion forum for that brand) to find out how to edit the bios

Advice for another brand (or even a different model of the same brand) could turn you computer into a 'dead brick'

>8 GB ram

When I was reading about GPU support in the latest Intel CPUs it said that the operating system will limit the amount of ram that will be allocated to the CPU for GPU functions

I don't think you have enough ram for really good operation

"I was wondering if anyone had suggestions on other video editing software I could use or even if older versions of premiere elements would work on my laptop? "

You did not give any information of the source of your video clips.  I will guess that they have a higher resolution making computer requirments higher.

I would not expect older versions of Premiere Elements to work.  And, it will probably be impossible to find or buy them.

Within the limits of your computer, I would suggest you use google or a retailer to search for "best selling" video editors and take advantage of free trials.  The only other alternative is to try online editors.  Even YouTube has recently added online editing.   Watching a review yesterday, it seemed a little "clunky", but it worked.

Are you rendering your videos before editing them?

Well, folks, this is what we get for rushing in to help when an original poster didn't even have a question.

Though it's nice to know that, should the original poster return, he or she will find lots of people eager to help!

Just to provide an update, I did actually have a question, but I ended up going through Adobe support to figure it out since I was abandoned on another post I had made on this forum. I was told that my computer didn't meet certain specifications listed in the "additionally recommended" requirements to use Premiere elements 2021, one of which was 4 GB in VRAM. To provide some more detail, I have a lenovo yoga 720 with 8 GB of RAM, 128 MB of VRAM, and plenty of memory. I was wondering if anyone had suggestions on other video editing software I could use or even if older versions of premiere elements would work on my laptop?

You need to provide details for anyone to help
Mac or Windows and exact version of the operating system
Premiere Elements version
CPU brand and model and clock speed
Video adapter brand and model and driver version and amount of video ram
Number and size and type of hard drives
What kind of video are you editing?
-hint 4k video on an underpowered computer will not play well

Also what are the complete specs of your video and what are your project settings? If they aren't properly matched, you will get awful performance.
