PREL audio file won't play

I am a infrequent user of premier elements 13. I have an audio only file - .prel. I opened it to edit it. But when I hit the play/pause toggle nothing happens.

Covert it to a wav file before importing into Premiere Elements. MP3 file can sometimes be problematic.

A .prel is not a media file. It is a Premiere Elements project file.

Your mp3 is a media file inside the project file.

Well the original source was an MP3 but I had already saved it as .prel. I wanted to make a couple a few more changes. I opened the project and had the problem mention in my original post.
