Premier Elements 2018 reverses system speaker output choice

Hello,

Running Premier Elements 2018 on my Win10 (Home) PC, I normally run my sound to my external Presonus AudioBox22VSL audio interface. I do this for all programs I am running. That is, from the system audio output choice, I switch from the default "Realtech(R) Audio" output to "AudioBox 22VSA" setting.

This works fine for all applicatons on my PC except for Premier Elements 2018, which reverses the speaker output choices. That is, in order to get the sound output to channel to my audio interface, I must select the default PC speakers (Realtech Audio). If the setting is set to the audio interface (AudioBox 22VSA) setting, the sound will come out of my default PC speakers. So I must change the speaker setting to be the internal "Realtech Audio" setting that will (strangely) send the audio output to the desired external audio interface instead.

Sure, this "workaround" works but it's a real pain in the backside. I often jump back and forth between my DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) software and Adobe PE Elements software. Every time I do so, I must manually switch my speaker output to assure my audio output will go to the audio interface.

What's going on here? Why does Adobe PE2018 reverse my speaker output settings?

How can I fix this?

Thanks, everyone!

OK...

I posted the original thread a few hours ago. For some reason, the audio routing now seems to work as it should. That is, my internal speakers and my external audio interface no longer get "switched around" when using Premier Elements 2018. That's so strange because I was suffering from the problem for months... Now suddenly everything seems to be working properly again.

For that reason (because I don't know what "fixed it"), I cannot tell you what I did to make it work. If I knew what I did, I'd tell you, of course... but I can't tell you what I don't know.

I actually tought I would simply delete this thread, since no one had yet replied. But I can't see any way to delete the thread. Oh well...

Please consider this thread closed.

Thanks!

Well, it seems as if the problem was not resolved after all. I am back to having the same issue. That is, the speaker options when using Premier Elements 2018 are "mixed up". As a review, if I want to use my external audio interface while using PE2018, I must select the internal speaker option in Windows in order to route the sound to the audio interface.

This is a real pain in the backside as I almost always run my sound output to my audio interface. I often have several pieces of software running at a time. They all are happy with choosing the audio interface sound option in Windows, but only PE2018 gets confused and requires me to switch the audio output option in Windows every time I use the program. Then as soon as I jump to one of the other programs, I must manually switch the speaker output back.

Hasen't anyone else run into this issue?

Apparently this problem is unique to your configuration, coolblue.

Sorry.
