Question

Premier Elements 2019 imports will not play clip

For some reason my Premier Elements 2019 won't play clip when I add it to the timeline, every thing else works, I sse the clip, I can scroll through the clip but when I hit the play button nothing happens. I tried reinstalling and that did not help. It was working before, I did install Resolve to check it out not sure if that  caused a problem, (Resolve seems to work). This is on a high end gaming laptop so hardware should not be an issue, like I said it was working before Resolve but I don't see why that would cause a problem.

Any help appreciated.

Thank you all for responding, I've tried using Premier Elements 2020 and it seems to play all my clips with no issues. I'm a bit comfused as to why 2020 works with all my clips but 2019 is still not working with my Panasonic clips which are at a fixed frame rate. I've tried disabling my Nvidia Card and still the same issue.quite frustrating.

"Is it possible my Note 9 broke my Premier Elements 2019?"  No.

I shoot and edit Panasonic video regularly.  There is no reason that it wouldn't work well.

My current guess is that you may have a video driver conflict.   Your "high end gaming laptop" probably has Nvidia graphics.  (Mine does.)  Consider trying a driver update.  If that doesn't work, try a driver roll back.   Drivers are irritating, but sometimes Nvidia makes changes where even recent software has a conflict.

It may be the codec used.  Try transcoding.

Ok thank you for that info. I went to my Panasonic Camera which has a fixed frame rate and tried that and I still have the same problem. Is it possible my Note 9 broke my Premier Elements 2019? Here is the media info for my Panasonic.

Steve is a lot better at solving these than I am.  If he doesn't respond, consider that the Variable Frame Rate is the sticking point.  Premiere Elements 2020 is better at it than 2019.   You can try converting the clips to a more standard fixed frame rate with the (free) Handbrake program.   You may also be able to change the settings in your phone to a fixed frame rate.

What operating system are you using? If you're still on Windows 7, you may be missing a component needed to play some files.

Also open your video file in the free download MediaInfo. In MediaInfo, set View to Text and copy the report that appears and paste it to this forum. Once we know your operating system and the specs of your file we'll better be able to help you.

Hi Thank you for responding. I'm using Windows 10 and it's not just one video clip it's every clip that I try, I did get a new Note 9 and I noticed that was the first video clip where the video would not play. Here is the Media Info.
