Premier Elements 2022 Subtitles - HELP?

I don't thisnk that PrE supports sub titles or any type of closed captions.  Has anyone figured out a work around.  I found that I can import a video that I produced in PrE 2022 into Youtube.  Youtube allows me to create subtitles that I can export in an *.SRT file, but I cannot find a way to import it back into my PrE video?  Has anyone figured out a way to do this.  I am trying to add subtitles to the video of my son's wedding vows.  The sound on the video is terrible and the vows almost impossible to understand - adding closed caption or subtitles would be perfect!  Any suggestions warmly welcomed.  I have seen some sights online that may accomplish this for a fee, but (a) I'd rather not pay a fee, and (b) it is not clear how or if these services would actually work on my poor audio video.  Thanks

    Not so fast oh Great Carnack the Magnificent! (Steve G)  Haha!   Bill Sprague had a great idea and it served as an excellent workaround to my Closed Caption question.  In short, I exported a copy of my video from PrE22 and imported it into youtube.  With a little exploration of the youtube interface you will find the ability to add subtitles, which you can edit, customize font, font color, background etc.  I then played the video within youtube while screen capturing the video in Win11.  I then imported that back into my PrE22 working video file (stripping off the audio from the youtube creation) and added the closed caption video file to a new video track above the corresponding place in the actual video  - I used the Fx effect to crop my youtube closed caption creation so it fit in a nice "closed caption box" at the bottom of my final video.  It works great!  I am really pleased....  Thanks for the inspiration Bill S.

        No - there is no on off.

        Premiere Elements doesn't have any tools that could even serve as a workaround for creating titles that can be turned on and off by the viewer.

         

        If you want permanent subtitles, though, you can certainly use regular titles to create them.

          Would it work for you to screen record your YouTube playback with the subtitles?
