Hey guys,

I am at a loss for what to do here, i have had premier elements for about 2-3 months and it was working fine up until a few weeks ago.  I bought this to make highlight videos of my video gaming, and began using shadow play highlights then switched to my twitch vods.  When i switched to the larger twitch streams to edit my computer began to randomly blue screen, or locking up so badly i would need to hard power down, when i would try to scroll forward in the video, i was hoping it was one corrupt file but the problem has gotten worse, i would save every minute or so as i was working thinking maybe it was just a cause of large files.

Fast forward to today, after my last blue screen premier elements will not even open but crashes on each time i try to start it.

I did a fresh install of the program and it still just crashes on startup.

-I have 1080ti

-i7 7700k 4.5 ghz

-16gb ram

Windows is updated and all drivers are also updated.

Blue screen usually means a hardware issue.

Try updating or rolling back your graphics driver directly from the video card manufacturer’s site.

    Try this:

    1. Totally shut down your computer.

    2. Start your computer.

    3. Open Premiere Elements only (no other programs)

    4. Load a video you've had success with in the past.

    5. If everything is working up to this point, you probably had some kind of overload somewhere in your system.

    6. Shut down and re-start your computer again (if #5 is ok).

    7. Open a new video project and go through the steps to get to the failure point. (Keep all other programs closed.)

    8. Save your project.

    9. Move on if everything is still working to complete your projects.

You don't say which Windows operating system you're working on or which version of the program you're editing with, but that information could be relevant.

But you also don't say which program you're using to record your video gaming -- and that's more likely at the root of your problems. Premiere Elements is designed to edit camcorder and phone video, which use pretty standard codecs, resolutions, frame rates and other compression systems. Many screen recording apps use non-standard codecs, resolutions and variable frames rates, and these features can be murder for a simple video editing app.
