Hi,
I am mainly an amateur photographer
I purchased Premiere Elements 10 in a bundle with Elements 10 some y7ears ago.
I have updated Elements Organizer and Editor a few times since and am now using Elements 2018.
I have never been much into Video and have never used or updated Premiere Elements 10.
I now want to use Premiere to convert my Organizer Albums into slide shows but am having all sorts of problems. I am an active member of the “Elements and More” forum and Sepiana suggested that I contact you.
In the tutorial am advised that Premiere 10 does not accept image sizes larger than about 6 mp. and that I should resize the images:
if I am using standard definition out put they should be resized to 1000 x 750
If I am using HDV they should be resized to 2000 x 1500
Some of my jpg images are over 10Mp after processing
If I resize them as above will I be compromised quality for viewing on a large TV screen?
My main problem is however that I am seem unable to access the Start screen, which I see on all the video tutorials, which will give me access to the type of editing and Guided Edits.
I access Premiere Elements via the Welcome page
I only have three options ORGANIZE NEW PROJECT OPEN PROJECT ( see attached image )
If I select NEW PROJECT:
- It takes a long time to open
- I get a project page which allows me to select a project name and a destination folder to save the project in. (see attached image ).
- It also has an option to Change settings, where I select the hard drive on my computer.
- When I click OK, it opens what seems to be the project screen. ( see attached image ).
Somehow I seem to have missed a step that would give me access to the START window, where I would have had access to ELive, Quick Guided or Expert levels of editing and the editing Toolbar.
I now use the functions available in the “Project” window: (See attached image )
In the Show field, I hide “video” and “Audio” and select “Still images”.- I select “Get Media” and import media selected from a folder.
- I select all the media in the Project window and drag the images into the “Timeline”
- They appear as small “thumbnails”
- From the edit menu ( next to the Project tab) I selected “ Transitions”
- In the Edit window a selection of transitions was displayed and I made “Cross Dissolve” the default.
- From the top left menu I select :Timeline” and from the drop down menu I select “Apply default Transition along CTI” and from the drop down menu I select “Video”
- My selected default transition is added to the “Timeline” ( see attached image)
I pressed the play button in the preview window in the top left third of the window.
The red timeline moves along the time line but displays only a few random images, the others are not displayed. Of the 35 images only three were displayed?
I have read the relevant slideshow section of the Guide to Premiere 10 and watched the tutorials, but I can't get my screens to look like the screens illustrated and I can't get a Slideshow to work.
Having watched the tutorials I thought it would be a breeze. I have spent all of Saturday afternoon and have nothing to show for it. I was hoping to be able to turn my albums into slideshows on demand, using the additional facilities available in Premiere rather than the basic slideshow offered in Elements Organizer.
Can you help me?
PS I saved the project after I had added the transitions and now, on re-opening the project all the images in the project window are blurred as if not connected to the correct folder.
