Question

premiere elements 2018 support for panasonic g85 & gh5 in 4k video?

I see in the fine prints that premiere elements 2018 will support editing files from panasonic GH4, but fails to list the newer panasonic g85 and GH5.  Does premiere element support both the editing and export of 4k videos from these two cameras?  I need to confirm before purchase.

I have three other Panasonic cameras that shoot 4K.  The are the LX100, GX8 and ZS100.  Premiere Elements does very well with those.  They footage from the G85 should be identical.

There are some "log" capabilities in the GH5 and it can shoot 4K at 60p.   I'm pretty sure that Premiere Elements won't do the color grading associated with the "flat" log files.  I suspect it will be OK with the 60p but I don't have a clip to test.

My suggestion for you is to download the trial.  It is completely the same and runs for 30 days.  Try it for the footage you have.  If you output a finished product, it will have a watermark.   Once you buy the access code, you can output a fresh copy without the watermark.

If you have or are about to get a GH5, I am jealous!

that's a great idea, whsprague!  i'll try it out.  i only have a g85 now, and hope to save up for a gh5 in 2018 or 2019.  =)

You should have no issues with the G85.  The video format should be the same as my GX8.   I too look forward to a GH5!
