Question

Premiere Elements 2019 files crashes

Certain project files (.prel) make my computer lock up. They don't have anything in them that isn't in any other .prel files I've made. Is there a size limit for projects? My drivers are up-to-date, so I don't think that is the issue. Is there any way to "repair" these types of files? Any help will be appreciated.

Were they created in the version that you are trying to open them with?

Yes.

Crashing is rare and hard to diagnose in a user forum.  Memory suggests that the usual causes are from a corrupted clip or a pending hardware failure.   If a .prel file is corrupted, I don't know of a way to repair it.
