Question

Premiere Elements 2020 arrives and mysteriously my old Elements 11 no longer functions

Reinstalled the App using download provided via Plan tab when logged in, and once installed have full access to Organizer - after launching the welcome screen I try to start the application (Elements 11) and it just cycles, never opening

Any help is appreciated, but surely this is Adobe trying to make me 'upgrade'...

Hi there,

We're sorry for the issue. This should not happen ideally. Though, I agree with @whsaparague where he mentioned about software upgrade and evolution with time. However, I would definitely like to get it tested if there has something happened with compatibility after the latest release. Could you share the following information?

  • Which Operating System are you using?
  • Have you tried reinstalling the application?

Looking forward to your response.

Thanks,

Shivangi

You 'old' version 11 is so old, Adobe is not going to provide you replacement software.  If you have the discs, that may work.  If you've downloaded something current, it is a free trial version for you to try.  From what you write, it appears you've installed the newest version of the Organizer program.  It is not going to operate with an old version of the editor.

I'm sorry you think Adobe is forcing you into an upgrade.   My view is that Adobe evolves the software a little each year to maintain compatibility and functionality with ongoing changes in codecs, formats, cameras and operating systems.   Compared to what film used to cost, a sofware upgrade every few years is a bargain.
