Premiere Elements 2021 GPU accelerated rendering compatibility

I would love to upgrade my Premiere Elements 2018 version to the Elements 2021 version IF I can get some definitive answers about GPU acceleration compatibility. Information about the subject seems vague, ambiguous or even mythical to me. Questions regarding the subject on this board are either not answered or otherwise vaguely diverted. I have not heard anyone testify this feature actually works for them (except for one guy with a GT 730 on YouTube)

I started with installing the trial version which I found out later does not support the GPU acceleration feature!?

https://helpx.adobe.com/premiere-elements/using/gpu-acceleration.html
"GPU acceleration feature is not supported in the trial version of the application. This feature is only available if you have purchased the application and have the recommended GPU card on your machine. Please re-launch the application after activation."
This strikes me as odd, why would this advertised feature not be in the trial version? Do you not want me to test how much/little performance gain I would get from it? But okay, I can live with that as long as I know for sure it will work in the real version.

Then I started searching for the compatibility list.
https://helpx.adobe.com/premiere-elements/using/gpu-acceleration.html#recommended_cards
"GPU Acceleration feature will be supported only by the graphic cards mentioned below on Windows."
It is clear that my card (GTX 1660 Ti) is not on the list.

However, looking at the list I notice these are all more or less budget cards from each series. For example from my series, the cheaper GTX 1650 is listed, but not the 1660 Ti. The GTX 750 is listed, but not the more advanced 780. Same with the 1050 Ti is listed, but not the 1080. One may conclude these cards are the MINIMAL requirements from each series. But it doesn't say that! It specifically states "only the cards mentioned below". Another conclusion may be that these cheaper cards are easier or cheaper to support, but that doesn't really makes sense to me and it doesn't mention that either.

So I cannot test, I cannot read anywhere to confirm and I cannot find anyone to testify whether or not this feature will work for me.

My system is a Windows machine with 9900KF (thus without onboard GPU) and a GTX 1060 Ti.

@Adobe, clarify this issue: Is the supported GPU list a minimal requirement for each series? If not, why are only low-end cards supported?

@Premiere9384884 Elements users: Does the GPU acceleration work for anyone with a GPU not exactly on the list?

Correct answer Ann Bens

Well you have to accept that only cards on the list are supported. (straight from the horse its mouth).

As for my card its not supported anymore.

In trial version the supported cards are disabled.

For Adobe Premiere 2021 Elements, you can override the supported-card recognition table by editing the file:

C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Premiere Elements\19.0\Online\Hw Acc Render\All_Lang\HW\Files\allowlisted_cards.txt

Ann: "or join the Premiere Elements Beta Tester Program to get your card approved."

John: "Sign up for the beta program and the Adobe employee in charge may contact you and send you the update utility to add GPU acceleration to your card"

Yeah, that's all very funny. I applied for the Beta program weeks ago and never got any response, not even to inform me that I am not accepted. Meanwhile, apparently others with the same card (and roughly the same system do get approved).

Very frustrating to wait for a product to be finished after I buy it, again.

Sign up for the beta program and the Adobe employee in charge may contact you and send you the update utility to add GPU acceleration to your card (be sure to run the utility multiple times, like I did)

Thanks.  Done.  Now just wait an hope.  I have videos that take nearly a day to process.  Hoping this can help.

Same here. 1660-ti with no support.  It picks up the onboard intel 630 which sucks but not the nvidia.  The reason I upgraded was to get gpu acceleration.  Didn't realize there was fine print on some support page that made my purchase worthless.

If bought less then a month ago you can ask for you money back.

or join the Premiere Elements Beta Tester Program to get your card approved.

So who desides that that should be the 'Correct Answer'?

The "lower" GTX750 is supported, my GTX760 is not, even though it is in the same family... so it seems clear that if the card is not in the list, gpu acceleration will not be enabled

this is an user to user forum. Abobe engineers seldom participate (which I think is a shame).

I have a 1070ti which is supported. Guessing the 1060ti will run whithout any issue.

If the card is not on the list it means it has not been tested but does not mean its not supported by the program.

Guessing lower end cards are the most common cards used by Elements users.

There might also be some significante differences between cards develope for laptops and desktops.

Thank you Ann for your answer, though I had hoped for more then 1 reply. Unfortunately I cannot draw conclusions based on 1 reply.
