Premiere Elements 2021 GPU accelerated rendering compatibility
I would love to upgrade my Premiere Elements 2018 version to the Elements 2021 version IF I can get some definitive answers about GPU acceleration compatibility. Information about the subject seems vague, ambiguous or even mythical to me. Questions regarding the subject on this board are either not answered or otherwise vaguely diverted. I have not heard anyone testify this feature actually works for them (except for one guy with a GT 730 on YouTube)
I started with installing the trial version which I found out later does not support the GPU acceleration feature!?
https://helpx.adobe.com/premiere-elements/using/gpu-acceleration.html
"GPU acceleration feature is not supported in the trial version of the application. This feature is only available if you have purchased the application and have the recommended GPU card on your machine. Please re-launch the application after activation."
This strikes me as odd, why would this advertised feature not be in the trial version? Do you not want me to test how much/little performance gain I would get from it? But okay, I can live with that as long as I know for sure it will work in the real version.
Then I started searching for the compatibility list.
https://helpx.adobe.com/premiere-elements/using/gpu-acceleration.html#recommended_cards
"GPU Acceleration feature will be supported only by the graphic cards mentioned below on Windows."
It is clear that my card (GTX 1660 Ti) is not on the list.
However, looking at the list I notice these are all more or less budget cards from each series. For example from my series, the cheaper GTX 1650 is listed, but not the 1660 Ti. The GTX 750 is listed, but not the more advanced 780. Same with the 1050 Ti is listed, but not the 1080. One may conclude these cards are the MINIMAL requirements from each series. But it doesn't say that! It specifically states "only the cards mentioned below". Another conclusion may be that these cheaper cards are easier or cheaper to support, but that doesn't really makes sense to me and it doesn't mention that either.
So I cannot test, I cannot read anywhere to confirm and I cannot find anyone to testify whether or not this feature will work for me.
My system is a Windows machine with 9900KF (thus without onboard GPU) and a GTX 1060 Ti.
@Adobe, clarify this issue: Is the supported GPU list a minimal requirement for each series? If not, why are only low-end cards supported?
@Premiere9384884 Elements users: Does the GPU acceleration work for anyone with a GPU not exactly on the list?
