Premiere Elements 2023 Transitions

Just starting out using this programme.

When using Expert or Quick View to insert a transition between two adjacent clips (no gap) the transition appears to be correctly inserted but it has no apparant effect when scrolling or just playing. I have tried extending length to 3 sec and alternative transitions.

What am I doing wrong? (I am familiar with other editing programmes such as Power Director)

Correct answer Ann Bens

When you cut a video clip and don't trim the cuts but just drop a transition, nothing seems to happen.

In fact the transition does work, but you are not seeing anything as it uses the same frames.

You need to trim the back of the first clip and the front of the second clip.

If the transition is 1 second long and assuming your timeline is 30 frames per second.

Both ends need 15 frames trimmed off.

Edit to above ...

Tried to insert transition between two still images and all OK. But not where I have cut a video to insert transiton.

(Can you Edit a post here instead of making a new post?)

Thanks for that tip. Seems a rather complex way of adding a simple transition for, say, fade out and in.
