Premiere Elements 2024 hvec error

Hi all

I'm running Premiere Elements 2024 on Windows 11 and encountered a problem importing picture from my Google Pixel 8 phone. It says I need to update my video codec (hvec), which I did from Microsoft. Now I can view them in every other app except Elements. I tried deleting the media cache as program suggested but to no avail. I know the 2025 Elements version does not have this issue but I only upgraded from the 2020 version to 2024 in the last year and don't want to upgrade again already. Is there a resolution for this problem?

Thanks

I just upgraded to PE2025 from Ver21. I cannot directly import HEVC files into either version. Maybe I shouldhave stayed with my CyberLink products.

2025 supports HEVC files.

copy from card/phone to harddrive then import

Any updates would be made in the current version and not in previous versions.

In case you are not aware yet, PSE 2025 is a three-year-subscription and not a perpetual license.

HEVC has been a big pita for Elements 2024 and older versions.

I would convert all media to H.264 and constant framerate with Handbrake before bringing it into Elements.

Might want to set your phone to H.264 for future projects.

Thanks, hopefully they fix it. Probably be my last version of Elements. I
will try your suggestion.

As far as Adobe is concerned, the feature works.

So don't count on a 'fix'.

@despiser

I've moved your post from Photoshop to the Premiere Elements forum.
