Premiere Elements 2025 Sound Problems

Upon installing  and running Premiere Elements 2025, I get message "MME device internal error. Do you want to open Audio Hardware Preferences".  Selecting either yes or no still brings me into the program (no preferences loaded). I select preferences from the menu and no matter what output audio source I select... all give MME internal error message and cannot be applied.

I can play and hear audio in many other apps that play audio, which includes 2 media players and 6 other video editors.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled Premiere Elements 2025. No change in problem.

Suggestions please.

I seem to have solved? the problem. I set audio default input to 'no input'.  Why this 'did it' is beyond me, but I can play and hear sound now.
