Premiere Elements and Photoshope Adobe Scam

I purchased the bundle pack of Premiere Elements 2022 and Photoshop Elements 2020 in July of 2022.  According to the Adobe Forum representatives, both products would run on my Macbook Air M2.  Sadly, they both were extremely laggy and slow.  Premiere couldn't even handle one video track of 1080p footage without stuttering.  Photoshop couldn't even do realtime adjusts of something simple like adjust brightness or contrast.  Both products should not have been sold or advertised as working with Apple Silicon.  They simply didn't work.  I was hanging on for an updated 2022 version that would actually work.

Three months later, Adobe releases their 2023 versions of Elements and Photoshop.  Customer services is refusing to let me upgrade without paying an addition $120.  This is for software that NEVER WORKED in the first place.  This is nothing short of a scam.  I used Premiere Elements to painfully edit 2 short videos.  And Photoshop for one photo (I mainly use Luminar which is a superior product).

Adobe should be ashamed of their customer service and their halfbaked products.

This could have been handled pretty easily by contact Adobe Customer Care directly via chat.

At this point you may have waited too long to return the 2022 version, but they are usually really good about refunding your purchase if you contact them within a month.

So it's not a scam. You just have to contact and ask.

When a company releases a product and promotes it knowing that it does work propery on modern hardware, then refuses to let you upgrade within 3 months for free, then it's 100% a scam.

Their product NEVER worked properly.  I should have dumped it immediately and gotten a refund, but I had faith that Adobe had decent customer service and would give out a free update since their software was NEVER optimized for Apple Silicon -- especially since they knew their software lagged.   Instead of calling it Photoshop / Premiere 2022 version 2.0 they slapped on a 2023 for the optimized software so they could charge for a "new" product.

Their competitors, like Luminar, are constantly updating their software and not charging.  When they have a major upgrade, they charage a very nominal upgrade fee.

This is nothing short of a scam.  Take your fan boy hat off for a minute and you'd realize that.

Joseph,

Although sponsored by Adobe, this is a user forum where people using Premiere Elements get help and advice from other users.  Your complaint has been heard and will be read by other potential users.

I can't do anything to solve money or refund issues.  For anyone reading your rant, they should know that Adobe has trial versions of Photoshop and Premiere Elements that function for 2 weeks.  Then, if you buy a license, you have another 30 days to get your money back if it does not run well on your computer or for any other reason.  In other words, there is no risk of failure.  A scam would be more like a situation where you have no alternatives.

"extremely laggy and slow"?  That does not show up here often with the Apple version. When it does it is usually solved with some adjustements to various settings.

I'm curious why you are unhappy with iMovie or you aren't using Final Cut.
