Premiere Elements Not Taking wmv file

I'm trying to edit a .wmv file in Premiere Elements 13.1 on Windows 10. I've done all the software updates and for some reason the video is not showing up on the timeline, but I can hear the audio. What am I doing wrong? Thanks!

WMVs don't make for the best source video for Premiere Elements projects. Is your video available in any other format? Pretty much nobody uses WMVs anymore. Not even Microsoft.

You can try converting the video to an MP4 with the excellent free download HandBrake. An MP4 is much more easily editable.

FWIW, WMV is still listed on the supported file format list.  That said, I would follow Steve's suggestion.

The possible obstacle is what is inside the wav file.  What is the source of the video?  Can you use the (free) Mediainfo app, open a "Tree View" and cut and paste here?
