Premiere keeps crashing in Windows 10

We have a Windows 10 machine and find that Premiere is unusable. It's always been a bit sketchy, but we were able to get by, but now it's crashing all the time. We recently got the following error message (attached). Can anyone shed any light?

Also, I don't know if this is related, but we used to be able to open/edit/view .MOV files, but now all of a sudden it doesn't like them and we're having to use some software to convert into an MP4.

    There is an Adobe provided table of "minimum" requirements.  That seems to be for "minimum" video specifications.  Your current computer meets those requirements.  Current HD videos are higher than that.  If all of your RAM is clear (no background programs) and you have 5 or, better, 10 GB of free disk space.  It might work OK, but never great for video editing.   (Just for the record, this is not just Premiere Elements, but probably all video editors.)

    The reality of video editing is that it is the hardest thing we make our computers try to do.

    A lot of temporary files are written to the disk.  It may take more than you think.

    Hmm I wonder if that's it then. Is there a min requirement do you know. We've got 8gb of RAM with an intel i5 7200 with 2.71Ghz.

    One of the reasons that Premiere Elements is so widely used is that it is normally quite reliable.  "Sketchy" is not a precise enough description to be able help much.   Premiere Elements universally runs pretty well.  Unforutantely, when any software runs badly on our own machines, we want to blame the software.  Usually is is a mysterious local issue.  That said, common problems that show up in this forum are:

     

    -Old graphics drivers

    -Old software with new OS updates

    -Lack of disk space

    -Lack of usable memory

    -OS background updates

    -Hardware failures that corrupt component files 

    -Virus software that interupts processing.

    Re-installation often helps.  Updating graphics drivers does to.  If it is a new version of Premiere Elements, you can launch an online chat with Adobe Customer support.  They will offer to remotely connect to your computer and help isolate issues.

    I'm wasn't really sure how else to describe it. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. It seems to intermittently crash out. I'd updated the graphics driver already. Disk space, memory etc should be fine. I might try a reinstall as you suggest.
