Project freezes Everytime I watch certain spots

John's plea for more information will help.   But, based on what you've offered, my guess is that you have some corrupt footage files or hardware issues.   Premiere Elements is reliable on many (thousands?) of computers.   It is not likely that there is a hidden flaw causing the freezing you describe.   More likely are issues with source footage, disk space, memory or other computer issues.   

There are some settings to check.  In Audio Hardware Preferences, what is the default audio input?  Can you post a screen shot of the General Preferences page?

As a quick test, can you start a test project and use just one of the clips you deleted because you thought it was causing the problem?

You need to provide details for anyone to help
Mac or Windows and exact version of the operating system
Premiere Elements version
CPU brand and model and clock speed
Video adapter brand and model and driver version and amount of video ram
Number and size and type of hard drives
What kind of video are you editing?
-hint 4k video on an underpowered computer will not play well
