Ripple Delete Causes Audio to be out of synch

I just started with PE upgrading from Windows Movie Maker would you believe!

One thing I do a lot of is trim unwanted footage from clips.

I have watched multiple YT vids and read instruction posts but am having trouble.

If I cut a clip (say the first part) and then use ripple delete to delete it, when I start playing the remaining video the audio is out of synch with the video and I am forced to undo it. This happens wherever on the timeline I do it so I have not been successful in deleting any footage.

I would appreciete it if I could be directed to what I am doing wrong.

Is this the 2025 version?

The 'proper' way to cut footage is to open the clip in the Source Monitor, set in and outpoint and drag clip to timeline. No deleting required.

When footage is already on the timeline, is to hold down ctrl so the ripple trim tool will appear.

Trim clip to the desired length and let go.

If this does not work post screenshot of entire timeline

Is the audio linked to the video?

Footage is already on the timeline. I do not know what set in and outpoint mean.

I tied pressing control at the point I want deleted but am not seeing that tool..

I do not know how to see if audio is linked to the video. It is footage from a Canon 60D camera.

Where is your video originating from and what format and resolution is it?

This should not and usually does not happen. Do you get the same results if you select a clip and press the Backspace button on your keyboard?

Thanks very much for answering. I have watched your 8 part YT series on PE2025 and also some on the other ones.

Footage was taken with a Canon 60D and is a MOV file 1920X1080.

If I cut the clip and press delete the audio continues to be fine after the gap that was left. If I drag the clip to close the gap however the sound is then out of synch.

If I just cut the clip (Ctrl k) the right clip and ripple delete the audio from then on is just slightly out of synch.
