Smart-Trim vs Timeline-Cut

"Smart Trim" puts Windows over selected parts and merges them later. I like that because I can easily see what has been left out. I use Smart Trim even in manual mode for that.

Is such a method also possible for the timeline? So far, I can only see cuts with in- and outpoints which make it not that easy to look for stuff that is outside of these cuts. Or am I missing something? Is Premiere Pro different?

Nope. There's no easy way to take the best segments from a 90 minute video clip and then come back later and revise your selection. And that's true with any video editor. 90 minutes is just a lot of material to dig through.

I know of no feature in either program that allows you to select several clips and then select the best segments from the batch.

Although technically, that's why your timeline is.

I am new to video editing. I just wonder how people do it. I have a lot of 90 minute material, either plays, church etc etc. Now I want to select the best segments, around 10 minutes in 30 cuts. I learned how to cut and then trim etc on the timeline. If I come back the next day and change my mind, or I get a request for a person that needs to be seen in a cut, I need to search for that scene. Thus is diffult with the timeline. Sure, I can change the in and out points and start looking...In the Smart Trim module, I can move the CTI over material that is no longer part of the cuts and find stuff. That works only in the smart trim module so it seem ... I find that odd and am checking if I overlooked something?
