Sound starts to get out of sync during editing

Greetings,

I just recorded a video, which I transfered from my Nokia 8 to PC.

When I play the file from my computer, video and sound goes in perfect sync. However, when I start editing with PE 15, after a minute voice starts to go more and more out of sync with the video.

I didn't have this problem before.

Could it be due because my hard drive is starting to get full?

Correct answer Steve Grisetti

As suspected, your video has a variable frame rate, which is what's causing the out of sync issues.

The video I linked you to in my previous post explains more and tells you what you can do about it.

Although you may also want to download the free trial of version 2019 and give it a test run with this video. It alleges to be able to edit variable frame rate video without this issue.

Thankyou!

Could it be possible to calibrate my Nokia 8 in a way that it would eliminate the need for this altogether?

Or would something aestheticly important be lost if done that?

What are the record settings in the Nokia 8?  Some may have fixed frame rates.

Another more costly option would be to look at the newest version 2019 of Premiere Elements.  The release notes say that there is improved variable frame rate support.  You could try a free trial copy.  Note that it is a bad idea to open an existing project in a newer version.

Most likely your video uses variable frame rate compression. (We could confirm that, if you'll open your video in the free download MediaInfo. Set MediaInfo's View menu to text and then copy and paste that report to this forum.)

If that's the case, my tutorial shows you the best solution.

It's unlikely that is the cause.
