Sync is off after trimming a clip

Hi -- Patience, please, I'm a beginner who just installed Premiere Elements 2022. In "Guided" mode, I copied a file from a DVD and trimmed the beginning to remove unwanted video. But now the video and audio are out of sync by a few seconds throughout my remaining timeline. Before I delete it all and start over, did I likely cause the sync problem by trimming incorrectly? Or is there inherent incompatibility when editing a .VOB file (from DVD) with Premiere Elements?

The program should edit VOBs with no problem. I've done it pretty regularly.

But if you're experiencing out of sync issues, your DVD may have used some compression system that's challenging Premiere Elements. If that's the case, you can use Handbrake to convert the VOB to an editable MP4.

Thanks Steve. Indeed, HandBrake fixed the sync problem -- on SOME of my source DVDs. I'm now running into a problem where HandBrake only rips half of a DVD. I Googled the problem and tried disabling subtitles, but that didn't help. I'll keep researching online. Appreciate your response!

Followup, for anyone with my same sync problem: HandBrake works fine. It solved the sync problem, and it was ripping only part of my DVDs because I failed to notice you can choose "Title" and "Range" (e.g., chapters) on HandBrake when ripping your DVD. HandBrake's default was to grab the first Title listed. Operator error on my part. If you're a newbie to Premiere Elements and HandBrake, pay close attention. I'm learning through trial and error. ALSO: HandBrake uses 99% of my CPU when ripping a DVD, and that generates heat. We've had an atypical mid-90s heatwave here in Seattle for a week and our house has no A/C, so my den has been heating to mid-80s. HandBreak and Elements will crash my desktop computer whenever the CPU is maxed out while my den temperature approaches 80 degrees.
