Transitions Issue

When I apply default (cross dissolve) transition to all clips on the timeline, APE applies a “transition” to the beginning of the first clip. Since there is nothing to transition from, APE installs a fade-in on the first clip.. (And a fade-out on the last clip.) My question is, why wouldn’t Adobe apply a transition only at the intersection of 2 clips? That would make more sense. After all, it’s not a transition of there’s nothing to transition to or from. I doubt that anybody really wants that fade-in/out along with transitions.. If we want fade-in/out, we can install them ourselves. It’s up to us, not APE to decide that. I know there are a couple ways to work around the issue, but Adobe should fix that in the next generation.

A fade in/out is the same as a single sided cross dissolve transition.

Transitions between two clips are called: double-sided transitions.

No, they are not the same. A fade-in/out is just that. It has no resemblance to a double-sided cross-dissolve transition. A single-sided transition makes no sense at all to anyone other than programmers. A transition is from one clip to another. If there is no clip to transition to or from, it isn’t a transition at all. Transitions should be applied only where clips intersect.

You choose one or the other.

With Fade in/out n you have more control as it uses keyframes on Opacity or volume.

It should say APE, not PSE.

Thanks. I didn’t see an option to edit it myself, but I’m a newbie.
