Trouble activating Premiere Elements 2022

I’m installing my existing software on a new device. Photoshop Elements 2022 installed and activated without issues, but Premiere Elements wouldn’t bring up the option to enter an activation code. It just went straight to “install from DVD” or “start trial”. I’ve gone through all the steps the chatbot suggests, and of course I can’t access live chat because I bought my software prior to monthly subscription becoming mandatory.

I have a feeling I know what the answer is and that it’s “Adobe has made it mandatory to use a newer version so you can be strongarmed into paying a monthly subscription”, in which case it’s time for me to go and find other software because I won’t be doing that, but in case there’s something I’ve missed - is there a way for me to activate the software I bought and paid for and know how to use? Am I obliged to keep my old device solely in order to use Premiere Elements on it?
