trouble with pics and video

Hi can anybody help me please. I have only just started using the Adobe Premier Elements. When i import some pictures and videos they appear to have really bad dark areas and I dont know why. Even when I save it the play back still has the same problem.

    It is certainly not normal for that to happen.  I would love to try helping.  But.....

    What version are you using?

    What is the source material?

    What are the project settings?

    What is the computer?

    What is the operating system?

    What are the output settings and choices?

    What are the details of your workflow?

    What are your edits?

    Can you post screenshot examples?

    Can you share the video files?

    With a little luck, this is solvable.
