Unable to do a voice over in Premier Elements

I have worked over 3 hours and cannot get the microphone to record.

It does work. If, for some reason, you can't get your computer and Premiere Elements to connect, consider recording a sound track separately. The free program Audacity is very good. Once recorded, you could put the new voice over on another audio track.

To help with why yours is not working, more detail about your computer, mic and workflow would help.

I agree. I do all my recording in a separate program and save it as a WAV file.

Audacity is a great free program. And both Windows 10 and Mac OS include a built-in voice recorder that gives excellent results.

But if you want to get the Narration tool working in Premiere Elements (and your microphone is attached to your computer via USB), here's how to configure things.
