Unexplained export error when doing a custom export of WMV

Question

Hi. I hope you can help me.I am trying to export a very short movie with markers from a movie menu so that the video will be easily navigable. I understand that it has to be a windows media file or an apple movie to retain the markers so I am doing a custom export of a WMV. The export takes forever (or Im impatient after multiple tries) and at the very end I get an export error with no additional information. A file is in the designated location but it is a small file and will not play. I checked my storage last night and I have plenty of room on my computer and I have had no other issues exporting videos, just the custome export of a WMV.Does anyone know what I am doing wrong? Thanks in advance.

Time stamps or 'chapters' shown in your example are made on YouTube. As Steve wrote, the better choice is a more standard MP4 (with an H.264 codec inside) for uploading to YouTube. Then add the time stamps.

It doesn't matter what format you output, only DVDs have scene markers. Your markers will not appear in an MOV and WMV file.

So I recommend you just output as an MP4, the current universal language of online video.
