Upgrade to Adobe Photoshop and Premiere Elements 2023

I just purchased the Windows Adobe Photoshop and Premiere Elements 2023.  I am currently using version 2020 on a Windows 10 computer.

  • Can I upgrade directly from version 2020 to 2023 or are there intermediate steps required?
  • I have 30K of photos, many of which are tagged with the names of people and events.  Are there any compatibility issues with tags between versions?
  • Are there other issues I should considere before converting to the new version?

Thanks in advance for any insights.

As John says, you don't want to open an old project you created in version 2020 in version 2023. That can cause problems.

But otherwise, if you're asking if you can use your version 2020 registration to upgrade to version 2023, you should be able to. But know that regardless, you get a complete version 2023. Version 2020 will remain on your computer. The "upgrade" is merely is merely a lower price for currently registered  owners.

When you open the 2023 Organizer, it will use your old catalog to create a new version 2023 catalog. Your tags and people should carry over into the upgraded catalog. But your old catalog will also remain so you can still use the version 2020 Organizer independently of version 2023.

Does that make sense?

Anyone know whether the upgrade to 2023 allows so from Elements v8?  Can't seem to find an online statement of the license requirements. TY

You can certainly try, if you're talking about the purchase of version 2023 for an upgrade price. But if you're talking about upgrading the Organizer catalog from v8 to 2023 or opening v8 projects in version 2023, I'd recommend against trying that.

As far as I know, if you open a 2020 project in 2023 it will 'change' the project so you will no longer be able to open that project in the older program
