Hello all,
this text was translated with Deepl.

When I export a video after editing, the video quality is a bit worse afterwards. When importing, I selected "Change project settings".
The original is a recording from OBS, and was then changed from MKV to MP4 by OBS.

I did the export with the setting "Computer", 3840x2160, MP4 - XAVC-S, High.
created. For this question, I did not edit or change the video.
However, I spent half the day trying many different custom settings. Unfortunately, I don't have the know how here.

Here are the video details of the original:

Can you possibly spot the error here?
What can I do?

Correct answer Pixel_held

I did it!
My mistake was this:
I just dragged and dropped the files into the timeline. But this leads to crazy results, no matter if I adjust the settings or not. I have to start a project before, choosing a resolution AVCHD - QFHD 16x9 59.94 even if it exceeds the resolution of my video. Then I specified the specs of my raw footage in the Custom Settings. Now I don't have any quality loss.
Apparently Adobe Premiere Elements downscales the files in advance when you drag and drop the files in without having a project setting selected. What you do afterwards doesn't matter, since the losses have already occurred.

You are exporting to larger pixel dimensions than the original, so it will lose quality.

Thank you for your reply. I have tested it in different versions. Here is an example with the following settings:

MP4 - H.264
Quality: High

I'm also attaching a picture showing the difference between the original and the 2 exports:

I second Bob's response.

I can't translate all of the data you posted and I don't use OBS.  The best you can do it match the original quality.  There is no upscaling available.

1.  Start the project by setting the project setting to match the original.  Do that by sliding a primary clip to the timeline.

2.  Do your editing.

3.  At output you should pick a default choice similar to your origninal.  You can also try "Match Source" settings under the "Advanced" button in the output dialog.

The output and the original should look similar unless you've applied adjustement or effects.
