Video not showing for particular media

I have saved media as MP4 using the Window's 10 Game bar.

When I load the files into Element 14 the video doesn't display even after a render.

Is this a codec issue?

David

David, if you have another video viewing program that you can use to load the MP4 in and then save it. Try doing that and re-save it as an MP4 and then if that doesn't work, try re-saving it as a different Premiere Elements compatible format. That's worked for me when I've had a similar problem.

Variable frame rates are -- variable. Some MP4s with VFR work while others do not.

Newer generations of some video editors are being programmed to work with this type of video. But many (not just Premiere Elements) have problems like out-of-sync audio, video not showing up, etc.

And there's the variable frame rate, just as suspected.

Glad you found a solution, evertech!

Weird is that I was sent a collection of iPhone 8 clips that had variable frame rates.  I had no trouble at all putting them into a Premiere Elements 2018 video.

Why does my installation of PrE work with variable frame rate video when so many others do not?

I followed the good advice to load the MP4 into another program and resave it.

Used Handbrake and got a resultant MP4 compatible with Premiere Elements.

Moreover it reduced the file size by around 30% - an added bonus!

Video from non-camcorder sources could have some features that don't edit well, including a variable frame rate and non-traditional codec system.

Open the MP4 in the free download MediaInfo. In MediaInfo, set View to Text and then copy and paste that report to this forum. Once we see what your file is made of, we may be able to better advise you how to proceed.
