Video Reports a Generic Error

Hello! I am a Mac user, and I am using the newest MacBook Air. I have been using Adobe Premiere Elements for a little while now, and I downloaded it on my new Mac! However, it seems as though Apple recently changed how they compress .mov files to be able to play them in the newest version of Apple's QuickTime Player. When I attempt to import my video files into the timeline on Premiere Elements, it reports a generic error. When I look at the error information, my issue says "File uses unsupported video compression type "ap4h." I had never gotten this error before! I believe that I have the most recent update, but I am not sure. What is my problem, and how should I fix this?

1 - have you updated to 2021.3 https://community.adobe.com/t5/premiere-elements-discussions/premiere-elements-2021-3-is-now-available/td-p/12336363

2 - will Handbrake convert to a file you can edit https://handbrake.fr/ open source transcoder/converter

That Apple codec seems to indicate that you're working with a Pro-Res video, which few consumer video editors can work with.

John's suggestion that you convert the file might well solve the problem.

You don't say where this video file is from, but maybe the device can be set to produce a consumer format.
