Question

Videos won't render completely and has timeline playback issues

Hello,

I downloaded Premiere Elements about a year ago and have been using it fairly regularly but I have gotten into some problems with rendering lately.

When I try to render just about anything for export the progress bar will pause at a random point. This will make it unable to continue rendering and makes exporting something impossible. The estimated time to completion will continue to decline until it reaches the 5 second mark where it will freeze. If I try to cancel it, it will cancel but from there the timeline freezes. If I try to exit out of the timeline it will crash. The same thing happens if I try to render in the timeline.

Additionally, when trying to play back videos in the timeline they will also stop at random, causing me to have to unpause them to continue playback. I have tried uninstalling and then reinstalling Premiere as well as lowering the rendering resolution. I meet the miniumum requirements for Premiere. I run Windows 11.

I have an iRISxe graphics card and a i5 1155G7 processor. Thank you so much for your help.

Tracking this conversation.  Same issue.  I have found that I can render 1 ~ 2 seconds at a time. However render and export will cause the system to lock up with the "5 seconds remaining" frozen.  Running Windows 11 version 22H2, however the system requirements are 21H2.  All drivers up to date, 16 GB of Ram that's usually running at about 7.5 GB, T7 11th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-1195G7 2.92 GHz, Intel(R) Iris(R) Xe Graphics, 360 GB on my hard drive available.  The one (and only) previous project I did, was able to render but was not as intense (no zooms, less camera switches).  Typical lenght of final project is 3.5 minutes, with three source videos having about 1 hour worth of footage.  Render cache were cleared. Likewise tried a reinstall and no luck.  About ready to move on to something else.

To clarify one item.  The previous project was about 9 months ago and was bit sluggish in rendering / export but made it through. Starting to think that a Windows update has caused the problem.

Hi.

I have the same problems. Computer with Win10 22H2, 1.3TB free space on SSD, 32GB ram. Last year several projects without problems. Would something Adobe and the year 2023?

Hello,

Thank you for the replies, I agree that it very likely is something wrong with my computer. I checked with my manufacturer and Windows and they both said I was fully up to date. I also checked my hard drive, I have a 512GB NVME SSD with more than 300 GBs free so I doubt that would be the issue. I also tried running it on an earlier version  of Windows to see if that would work and was unsuccessful.

To clarify: I ran an earlier version of Windows using the compatibility setting on the same machine.

What are the hard drives (how many, what kind, what is on each, what capacity, and how full)?

You write that it worked well enough a year ago and now it does not.  The software didn't change so that suggests there is something that changed with the computer.   So, my guess is that you are running out of disc space.  Video editing programs need a lot for temporary processing files.

Hello, thank you for your reply. I have a 512GB NVME SSD with more than 300 GBs free so I don't think that would be the issue, did you have any other ideas?

Every Windows update puts you at 'some' risk of a device driver needing an update

Do not count on Windows to be fully up to date when it comes to device drivers
Go to the vendor site to be sure you have an updated driver for your graphic adapter

Is that an ATI card?

Hello, thank you for your reply. I went to my graphics card manufacturer as well as the drivers area in my settings and they both say that my drivers were fully up to date. Did you have any other ideas? I tried running it on an earlier version of Windows using the compatibility setting on the same machine to see if that would work and I was also unsuccessful.
