When clicking on Render, my sequence plays from the beginning but does not render

Hello: I made sequence with five clips and very simple titles in between each clip.  Each time I click on 'render', the sequence starts playing from the beginning and does not render the titles.  This has happened to me before and I never figure it out--I just started the cut over.  Any suggestions as to what I'm doing wrong. Thanks.

I use PE 14.1 - I recall the same issue (playback starting automatically after rendering.
There is some option to stop this but I have not been able to find it so far.

 

EDIT: Just found it.

In EDIT / Preferences / General there is a box "Play work area after rendering previews".

If you remove the tick from that box it won't start the playback (from the beginning).

Also make sure the Work Area Bar -- the light area along the top of the timeline -- extends over your entire movie. Only video under the Work Area Bar will be preview rendered.

 

If you can post a screen capture picture of your timeline we can probably better see what is happening.

Do the titles play OK in the timeline?  Do they output OK?  Other than an orange line, does the editing work OK?

Hello.  Yes it looks fine in the timeline and it looked good on vimeo and other than the orange line, the editing is fine. It is just strange that clicking on 'render' would start the sequence playing.
