Audio and Video Will not play for seconds/minutes upon start up, laggy, and other bugs

3rd gen iPad Pro (<3 years old) running iOS 17.4.1 (up to date)

Premiere Rush (Up to date)

Editing two lines of video, about 1hr 45 min in length total. Both in 4k 60fps.

 

Upon opening an existing video project and hitting play, audio and video do not start playing, tho cursor will progress thru video. Sometimes one or the other will load but rarely both. This issue also appears when I'm moving positions within the video. This is exceptionally frustrating as it may take whole minutes for the video/audio to play appropriately.

 

The app often crashes when I'm working quickly, for instance changing the speed of multiple clips in quick succession, and this restarts the need to wait for clips to load.

Hi @Sabrina36871911t26t,

Thanks for the message. Did you shoot the video with the iPad Camera? If so, the footage might not be compatible with Rush (HDR, HEVC 10-bit 4:2:2, and cinematic mode are examples). Check out the specs and let us know more specific details about the footage. I am sorry for the frustration.

Hey Kevin, thank you for your reply.

 

I was able to finish the video; I separated it into 2-3 minute pieces and it crashed less often.

 

It is HEVC, one view from my iPad and one from my iPhone, and I've attached their details. I'm admittedly an amateur. Are these specific formats compatible?

An update - the app crashes if I do almost anything. It crashes if I open my video and just look at it. I am probably 80% thru editing my video, only 10 min of edited footage at this point, and it's taken hours, mostly waiting for the app to load up or stop being laggy. I am so close to being done but the app just can't work without crashing.

Request for support brings me here. So here I am. I expected much more from Adobe.
