edit a video

I have a 20 minute video of my musical performance shot with an iphone. There are about 

7 songs. I want to pull individual songs from the video.

My first attempt. I moved the yellow bar to include 

the first song and exported it to my camera roll. Upon examination what I had done was delete the first song from my video. 

A little help please. Pete

Despite the fast talking glib descriptions of how easy the edits are to make, RUSH is a bear to operate. I have been attempting to simply add clips and discover that one clip replaced another, or is not edited as I had expected etc.  There must be a training program that does not skip over essential steps! Sorry if this is not helpful, but it is sympathetic. M
