Importing MP4 to RU Error Message

I have seen some posts about this bug but have not seen a solution. 

 

When trying to import an MP4, which is definitely a file type that RU supports, I get an error code that says "Media Import Error

 Unsupported Media . 1 of 1 media could not be imported"

 

I have imported MP4 clips from this very same file with no problem but the complete file for some reason gives me this error code. I saw someone mention "we're working on it" (?) but that was nearly two years ago. For added information, I am working with the app through an iPad Pro 12.9.

    Hello @juliop69125161,

    Thanks for the message and welcome to the forum. I don't know exactly what the format is that you are having trouble with. It is not the .mp4 wrapper giving you trouble, it's the video inside the wrapper. It's the codec or the video format that you shot. If it is HDR, or cinematic mode video from the iPhone, these formats are not compatible with Rush. Sorry about that.

     

    Solution: You can transcode them in Media Encoder to a standard SDR format, it should work. If you don't have a Media Encoder, try the freeware Shutter Encoder (search for it online). That also works. You'll have to transcode on a desktop computer. Do you have access to one? Let me know. I hope I can help you.
