is there a way to have pan and zoom already started when that clip appears?

When I turn on pan and zoom for a still photo, in my final rendered video it seems the photo will appear in the screen with no motion for a split second, then the pan and zoom starts, but then it stops again before the video moves to the next clip. Is there a way for pan and zoom to be active on the photo before the photo appears in the video? Meaning it would look like it's moving from the very first frame instead of the first few frames being still and then the panning starts? Same at the end: I'd like panning to continue as the next clips appears.

In print terms I guess this might be the equivalent of having the pan and zoom "bleed" off the clip.
