Issues with video audio

Alright, so I am working on replacing the audio in a video I did with some music. First I tried deleting the audio from the clip and that did nothing. Then I tried muting the clip. Nothing. So I exported the clip without any audio or music. When I play that exported clip, IT HAS NO AUDIO. Can someone please tell me why, when I try to put the music (which I do not have any issues with seperately) over the exported clip, which I have already confirmed has no audio, THE CLIP STILL SOMEHOW HAS THE ORIGINAL AUDIO?!?!?!?!
