Lagging, freezing, crashing and no error messages

Question

Rush has recently become unusable (last 3-4 weeks).

My Windows system is unchanged and has worked well with PR for over a year until the current issue.

I'm working with Windows 10 v1909 ... I cannot use a more recent version of Windows becasue I work for the NHS in the UK and OS management for the organisation is tightly controlled.

In attempting to resolve issues myself I have uninstalled 1.5.62 and tried every previous version back to 1.5.40 ... but all of them now have the same issue.

Playback in Rush no longer shows Titles or plays through transitions ... video clips have audio, but visual is prone to freezing. Most edits appear to crash Rush.

Any ideas?

UPDATE

Reading some of the other issues people have experienced, I have just cleared the cache. That helped a little, but has not solved the problem.

Rush appears to be permanently stuck in 'generating optimised clips' at 98%
