Question

Lots of projects won't open

This is really undermining the Adobe brand. Projects, that I've spent hours on, keep getting corrupted or something and won't open. I found a "fix" online from a few years ago. The fact that this is still happening indicates this is a dead product.

Is that right, @steven_2040? Sorry about that. What was the fix you used? I hope we can help you. Let us know more information about your system (or mobile device) and the media you are editing in order to help you better. Sorry for the hassle.

Cheers,

Kevin

Deleting a preferences file down in the application directory under username. Honestly, I've never used such a half-made application. Clearly Rush is not an application that Adobe intends to continue. I'm planning to start using the new Edits software from Instagram when it becomes available.

Sounds like you solved your issue, @steven_2040, by resetting preferences. Is that correct? For every non-linear editing product I've ever used, "trashing prefs" is a pretty common troubleshooting step. For some reason, they are one of the key things that can make an NLE. seem like a pile of rotting garbage, so I know how you feel. I would lobby that any NLE can have this happen. I backup a "good" set of preferences so I can always check to see if that might be an issue for any "weird" trouble I have with editing software.

Instagram is making an editor? Browser based, no doubt, so you'll have to upload all your footage before editing with it. That doesn't sound like fun. I've tried the editor with Express where you have to do that. Although you can do pretty amazing things, the workflow is a lot slower, so that's my only word of caution with NLEs that don't poll media on your hard drive, only the media you've uploaded. I could be wrong about the Instagram NLE. I'll take a look. In the meantime, we'll be here and we're always willing to help you with any project. Good luck and happy editing.

Thanks,
Kevin
