Major lag

I am currently using a Macbook Pro with the most updated version Permiere Rush.  In the last few days the lag from when I click and when the program responds seems to be a 15-20 second lag. 

I have checked internet speeds and updates and it seems to be the application. 

Every now and then it lets me know it can no longer suto save and to log out and back in.

Is there anyway to get rid of this lag that anyone knows of? It's killing my flow! lol
