Question

Naming Clips In Rush

When you import a file,,, it does not use that file name as the clip name,, only "Sequence 01"

Rush does not let you copy the text from the filename you are importing so you can paste it into the name of the clip.  You have to type it in.

But it does not matter because when you hit "share" Rush does not use the name of the clip you set up in the first step. it goes back to untitled.  And you cannot copy the text from the clip title at the top of the screen so you could paste it into the filename.  You have to type it out AGAIN.

What a piece of crap piece of software.  I am switching away from any Adobe product if I can.  Im learning Blackmagic Davinci Resolve.  Dont care if this is a "scaled down version" you should be able to name your damn files...

Hello @Carol36757100fqoz,

Thanks for the report. I appreciate the information.

The clip name is retained when you import a media file into the Project panel.

Once you click on the clip (or clips) and click the Create button, your project will contain those clips and a new Sequence (timeline).

Your sequence will be named "Sequence 01" by default.

Right-click the meatball menu (three dots) and choose to rename your sequence.

You cannot rename your clips in the Project panel, only the Sequence (timeline) can be renamed. Sorry about that.

Before sharing, try renaming the Sequence to the desired name you want before exporting the file. Copy and paste should work in the Sequence Rename Sequence dialog box.

True that you can't rename clips, but you can rename sequences and projects. To be honest, I rarely change the names of my clips, but I do want to control the naming of my sequences and projects. That helps me stay more organized. However, you can change the names of your clips Premiere Pro. I'm not sure why the product team has not yet added that feature.

I hope the advice helps. Sorry for the frustration.

Thanks,
Kevin

Hi,

Thanks for the added note.

The export should retain the location but will return to default if you open another project. It sounds like you would like to choose the behavior of the saved location if you change projects. Let me know if that is the case, and I'll pass it along to the team. Sorry for the frustration.

Cheers,
Kevin
