not able to add text from blue + in corner (desktop)

as title.

id like to add my ownm text rather than using the templates.

i dont have the option of adding my own text after clicking the blue + in the top left corner.

it only appears with add media, graphics, audio and voiceover.

any help much apprecited as i am currently having to find a template and editing to how i need. very time consuming.

not sure what you mean by source of text... i want to be able to use it during a video.

and i am using a lenovo thinkpad laptop, windows 10.

heres a screen shot of my problem. youll see that the ability to simply add my own text is not there.
