Question

Premiere Rush closes after I open it

I just installed Premiere Rush on my laptop to edit videos. Whenever I open the software, it lets me choose the aspect ratio and title. Then, I go to choose the file that I want to edit, and the software just closes without me pressing anything. Is there any way I can fix this?

Hi @John38457229uqhh,

I got your message. Have you read the system requirements, and are you meeting them? What about your footage? Is it supported? Please provide the community with more information so we can assist you ASAP. Sorry for the frustration.

Thanks,
Kevin

Hi Kevin,

All everything on my laptop meets the requirements to use the software, and
if it helps, I use OBS studio for the footage that I use.

Thanks, John

Hey John,

I appreciate the note. Your issue may be related to the media OBS generates. It often isn't the best because it contains a variable frame rate, and Premiere Rush might have trouble with that.

Download the free Shutter Encoder and try it out. Transcode the footage to H.264 with a constant frame rate or ProRes LT (better performance and a constant frame rate but with a much bigger file size. Still, I use it.). Let me know if that works for you. It's an added step, to be sure, but it will really make your workflow smoother.

I hope the advice helps. Let the community know if that works for you.

Cheers,
Kevin
