Premiere Rush is constantly crashing

I'm tyring to load in a 45 minute video, and my brand new 400$ processor is being worked to its upmost limit trying to load this thing.  Attached is a screenshot.  I've tried loading it in around 5 different times now, and my computer has crashed every time.  How could a simple 45 minute video cause so much trouble?  Is PR actually trying to load in and process the entire video all at once?  This is a disaster...

 

Anyways, how do I fix this?

Hi John5D80,

 

Sorry to hear about this. Are you experiencing this issue while importing this specific media file or is it happening with other media files as well? Also, have you tried deselecting the option to Enable hardware acceleration encoding and decoding (under Edit >Preferences) & checked if it's working properly?
