Everytime I open Premiere Rush and try to upload a file it crashes. I'm working on a HP Laptop with Windows 11 and 32gb of RAM. It worked once before but for the past month I haven't been able to use it at all bcause it keeps crahsing. I have updated to the most recent version, uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times, disabled hardware acceleration, cleared media cache, reset preferences.....I don't know what else I can do. Any ideas of the possible issue? Any Solutions? Any help greatly appreciated.

Hi @av_juju,

Thanks for the note and welcome to the forum. You say you are having trouble uploading a file and then Rush crashes. I think you might mean "importing" a file. Uploading is something quite different.

Assuming you mean importing, the community would love to know what kind of file you are trying to import. Is it from a camcorder, a mobile device, a drone, or which? Is it in 4K? Let us know more about the file.

You say you used to be able to import files to Rush using this computer until the past month. I would look back at that time and ask yourself about any changes you made to the system or app. There was a problematic Windows update a couple of weeks ago, perhaps try rolling back your version of windows to see if that might help. It can be a real problem for those trying to run video apps on dual monitors, if that is the case for your setup. Let us know more info, so we can help. Sorry for the hassle.

Cheers,
Kevin

Hey Kevin, thanks for getting back to me so fast !

Apologies, I do indeed mean importing a file. The program boots up but the moment I enter the menu to import a file it freezes then crashes, I don't even get to select a file yet.

Predominantly has been mp4 files, though occasionally some video files from a canon dslr, 720p stuff nothing crazy.

Just after the last time I was able to use it which admittedly was more like two months ago, my computer went through a mandatory drivers update (it's a work laptop) however I had a back and forth with our IT department and I believe the did revert it back but for whatever reason it didn't seem to fix the issue.

It sounds like Rush crashes when it touches a folder without the proper folder permissions, the one with your media in it! See if resetting folder permissions for Rush might help: https://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/multi/preferences-folder-read-only-error.html. I sure hope that works for you.

Take Care,
Kevin
