Question

Recommended workflow for synced projects

I wonder what would be the recommended workflow for this use case. I usually shoot video footage on my iphone, create a new project in Rush on my phone, where I add the videos from my camera roll. Then I would open this project on my iPad and edit. If needed, I would then finish color grading and possible effects in Premiere Pro, open it on my macbook using "open Rush project" in premiere pro.

I think this workflow is great in theory, and probably how it was indended. but I was having the same issue - each time I open the project in another device - the sync was painfully slow. To the point that it would take hours to sync, which disrupts the creative flow greatly. My solution was to upload the footage to Creative Cloud files first (which I am not sure if these are going away soon, since I saw some email about it), then I would create Rush project by linking Creative Cloud file. This way, even if the file is not synced automativally, I could actually find and connect the file in cloud. The problem is - I suspect the file is being stored twice, on CC and in the assets folder of Rush... What is the intended workflow to be speed and space efficient?

Also it would be awesome, if the user would have a "force sync" button for each project. For example I do not care about syncing some other project atm, but I do want to sync the directory I am currently working on.

Thank you!

Hi @defaultpaqxeyi028vo,

Thanks for the note.

Yes, this is one of the workflows that is supported with multiple devices. I use it myself.

Yes. That is a problem. You need a high speed data network for an optimal workflow. However, even so, it can take awhile for files to sync, especially if they are 4K. I usually sync overnight.

OK.

You are right. Here is a document about that: https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/eol-creative-cloud-synced-files.html

It's the original one that you mentioned earlier. The time it takes in order for it to work (especially with 4K files) needs to be factored in, unfortunately.

OK, I can mark your discussion as a feature request. Sorry for the hassles!

Thanks,
Kevin
